Universe Spiral Portal Talisman – Striking Argentium Silver Portal Spiral Pendant Handcrafted By Rox
I didn’t set out to make this design; I was playing with the properties of Argentium Silver where you can meld the pieces together without solder. What I love the most is that you can see that process in the photos – I pride myself on the fact everything I make are real handcrafted one of a kind pieces – and this is why I do that.

Pendant
Pendants are among the earliest forms of jewellery and artistic expression, the first evidence of a decorated piece is over 41,500 years old. They could be made from animal teeth, shells, and stones, used as amulets, talismans and symbols of power. Across cultures, pendants carry deep symbolic meaning; from Ancient Egyptian scarabs to modern designs, they remain a timeless symbol of resilience and our heritage. A pendant is more than just jewellery, it carries a story and the love of the wearer, suspended close to the heart.
Portal Spiral
The Portal Spiral is what happens when you follow a spiral all the way down. It’s not just a pattern — it’s an invitation, a suggestion that there might be somewhere else to go if you look deeply enough. These pieces have a hypnotic quality that draws the eye inward, ever inward.
I think of Portal Spirals as visual meditations. The eye wants to follow the spiral to its centre, to see where it leads. Of course, where it leads is entirely up to you and your imagination. It might be the centre of yourself. It might be another world entirely. It might simply be a moment of peace in a chaotic day.
There’s something portal-like about deep spirals. They suggest passage, transition, the possibility of stepping from here to elsewhere. Whether that elsewhere is a state of mind or something more mystical, I leave to the wearer to decide.
Some spirals simply decorate. Portal Spirals transport. There’s a quality to these designs that invites the viewer to fall in, to follow the winding path toward whatever waits at the centre. They’re visual rabbit holes, each turn of the spiral taking you deeper.
I designed the Portal Spiral for people who believe in other places — other realms, other dimensions, other states of consciousness. Or even for people who simply appreciate the meditative quality of following a line to its conclusion. The portal opens wherever you need it to open.
These pieces often find their way to meditators and seekers, people who use visual focus as part of their practice. The spiral gives the eye somewhere to go, the mind somewhere to follow. It’s jewellery as journey.
The centre of a spiral is always a mystery. No matter how closely you look, there’s always another turn, another depth, another level to explore. The Portal Spiral leans into that mystery, suggesting that the centre isn’t a destination but a doorway.
I’m fascinated by liminal spaces — thresholds, transitions, the places between places. The Portal Spiral is my attempt to create a wearable threshold, a constant reminder that other states of being are always available if we’re willing to spiral our way toward them.
People tell me they use their Portal Spiral pieces as focus points, as meditation aids, as simple reminders that reality is more porous than it sometimes seems. However you use yours, it’s an invitation to go deeper, to keep following the spiral, to see what waits at the centre.
Argentium Silver
You may not have heard of Argentium Silver, but I use it in all of my silver designs. Invented in the late 20th century, it was developed to resist tarnish and hold a radiant shine. It is hypoallergenic, made from 100% recycled silver, and offers a higher purity than standard Sterling Silver — combining beauty, comfort, and responsibility in one material.
Argentium Silver is a modern silver alloy named after the Latin word for silver, Argentum. Created in the 1990s, it replaces some of the copper found in traditional silver with germanium, making it naturally tarnish-resistant and hypoallergenic. I choose it for its bright finish, durability, and sustainable origins.
I love working with Argentium Silver because it responds beautifully to heat, allowing me to create effects that aren’t possible with traditional silver. It’s a very modern creation – tarnish-resistant, hypoallergenic, and made from recycled silver — a material that supports both creative freedom and long-lasting wear.
There are many reasons I use Argentium Silver — its high quality, resistance to tarnish, and hypoallergenic nature among them. Invented just a few decades ago and crafted from recycled silver, it offers a brighter finish and greater purity than standard Sterling Silver, making it both a pleasure to work with and to wear.
