Pilgrims often purchased metal souvenirs from the equivalent of a gift shop outside major shrines (nothing much changes!) and threw them into local water sources. I’d like to think no-one would want to throw this Argentium Silver Axe into a lake… but it takes all sorts, I suppose…!

Argentium Silver is a modern silver alloy named after the Latin word for silver, Argentum. Created in the 1990s, it replaces some of the copper found in traditional silver with germanium, making it naturally tarnish-resistant and hypoallergenic.
